2022 Spirit of Sport Award winner: Chris Harrington

Special Olympics BC – Kelowna's Chris Harrington has been a Special Olympics athlete for 19 years, and is a valued leader on the provincial SOBC Athlete Input Council and on the SOBC – Kelowna Local Committee. 

Chris is a successful multi-sport athlete and World Games medallist. He’s also an exemplary leader who advocates for inclusion and equality.

On the fields of play, he encourages all of his teammates and includes everyone in all aspects of play. He makes sure all athletes are encouraged and supported to build their skills. He is a kind and supportive mentor, and he always sets a positive example of respect and fair play.

Off the fields of play, Chris contributes strongly in a range of roles. He is an insightful voice on the provincial Athlete Input Council, and on his Local Committee. He also goes above and beyond to lead by example in helping with fundraising, registration, and more.
