Information for Athletes
prior to Attending Special Olympics Programs ALL NEW AND RETURNING ATHLETES MUST:
- Complete the 2022-23 Athlete Registration Form (This can be done using the Online Athlete Registration Form, or you can use the printable version which can be found below in the Additional Program Resources list).
- Contact the Special Olympics PEI office to sign-up for 2022-23 Programs, either by calling 902-368-8919 or via email at sopei@sopei.com. Stay tuned for the Fall / Winter Program Schedule.
- Refresh yourself on the General and Sport Specific Guidelines for your programs, provided below in the Additional Program Resources list. Be sure to follow along on our social media channels for the most up-to-date information.
IMPORTANT: If the above steps are not completed, athletes will be required to delay their participation in activities until everything is complete.
Information for Volunteers
prior to Attending Special Olympics Programs ALL NEW AND RETURNING COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS MUST:
- Complete the 2022-23 Volunteer Registration Form (This can be done using the Online Volunteer Registration Form, or you can use the printable version which can be found below in the Additional Program Resources list).
- Contact the Special Olympics PEI office to sign-up for 2022-23 Programs, either by calling 902-368-8919 or via email at sopei@sopei.com once the program schedule is available.
- Refresh yourself on the General and Sport Specific Guidelines for your programs, provided below in the Additional Program Resources list. Be sure to follow along on our social media channels for the most up-to-date information.
- Ensure your Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks are up to date.
Please note: for those that require a renewal of your Criminal Record Check (CRC) or Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), you will need to contact the Special Olympics PEI office to request a CRC/VSC reference letter to submit when you request your CRC/VSC. If you are unsure when you submitted your last CRC/VSC, please contact Special Olympics PEI, either by calling 902-368-8919 or via email at sopei@sopei.com.
- Class A Volunteers with more than 3 years of experience only require a check every 3 years
- Class A Volunteers with 3 years or less experience require the check annually

Additional Program Resources
To be completed by all Special Olympics PEI athletes.
To be completed by all Special Olympics PEI coaches and volunteers.
Only required by caregivers/guardians or 1-on-1 support who are supporting athletes at the program and who have not completed volunteer training/forms. Athletes/Volunteers will be signing off on this within their registration forms.
To be read aloud and completed each week at programs by a volunteer and sent to (Genna for Central program at sport@sopei.com or Ellen for Kings and Prince County programs at sopei@sopei.com) following each program. No signatures are required because participants are signing a declaration on their 2020-21 Athlete/Volunteer registration forms.
