Team PEI

Every two years, alternating between Summer and Winter, Special Olympics PEI is represented on the national level by a team of athletes, coaches, and mission staff. Athlete team members are selected based on results from regional and provincial competitions. Coach and Mission Staff positions are selected by an ad hoc subcommittee of the Special Olympics PEI Board of Directors.

The bid theme is “Hearts of Gold” to highlight Thunder Bay’s community spirit and the fact that 2020 will be the City of Thunder Bay’s 50th Golden Anniversary year. Our Team PEI Winter Games logo was created by Island artist Ashley Cameron. Her vision for this logo was that Lighthouses (an iconic PEI symbol) are used as a beacon or guiding light and it would be a very good reflection of what it means to be a team. She also made an arrow directed upward as the center of the lighthouse to represent growth and motivation.

Our Team PEI Summer Games logo was created by Island artist Ashley Cameron. Her vision for this logo was to express the drive and determination of the team and how it is an on-going journey; hence the bridge (an iconic PEI symbol) and infinity shape. Her main message with this logo is "never giving up".
