Special Olympics PEI Receives 2023 Community Grant from the City of Summerside

Special Olympics PEI is pleased to acknowledge the City of Summerside for their support of Islanders with an intellectual disability. A long time supporter, the City of Summerside has given Special Olympics PEI a Community Support Grant in the amount of $5,000.

Special Olympics PEI’s number one goal in 2022 remains to re-engage our athletes, volunteers, and families in our programs and in-person activities.  Thanks to this grant, our mission can be accomplished in the City of Summerside.

From weekly sport programs, volunteer training, athlete leadership training, health programming, special events and fundraisers, Special Olympics PEI is an active member of the City of Summerside community.  For the past 35 years, the City of Summerside has been home to all our East Prince sport programs and activities.  This grant will aid in supporting the 142 athletes with an intellectual disability and 52 volunteers and coaches living directly within the City limits.

Beyond this financial support, the City of Summerside, along with His Worship Mayor Dan Kutcher and other members of City Council, has been an integral part of the Special Olympics movement here on PEI.  With this grant, Special Olympics PEI will be able to continue to provide quality sports training and competitive opportunities to Summerside residents with an intellectual disability.
