Special Olympics PEI, COVID-19 Memo

Due to the recent announcement by our Chief Public Health office, Special Olympics PEI will be suspending all in-person SOPEI sanctioned events, including weekly programs and fundraising events, effective immediately, through March 7, 2021.  We will re-evaluate the situation at that time and provide a further update on or before March 8, 2021. 

The SOPEI office is now closed to the general public until March 8, 2021.

Although in-person activities will not be taking place at this time, the following virtual and at-home opportunities are available:

Facebook Membership Group

  • Look for activity ideas for you to do from the safety of your home while connecting virtually with your friends and coaches!

Wellness Champions Program

  • To get started, athletes must complete their 20-21 Annual Registration, and submit it to the office (sopei@sopei.com). Once your registration is submitted you can contact the office by phone (902-368-8919) or email (sopei@sopei.com) and ask to join the Wellness Champions program.
  • You will then be sent a package of tracking tools and activity ideas in four pillars of wellness. The activities can be customized, personal and fun for every participant to enjoy. Gather all the required points in each pillar to receive a medal and keep working hard to receive all 5 medal pieces that fit together like a puzzle.

A reminder that we can all take steps to prevent the spread of COVID 19.  We encourage you to follow Chief Public Health guidelines in order to help reduce exposure to the virus and protect your health and the health of those around you.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Wash your hands often
  • Use hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol)
  • Sneeze and cough into your sleeve or tissue
  • Stay at home if you are sick
  • Get tested immediately if you have any symptoms
