Cavendish Agri Services, Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Truck Convoy

The PEI Law Enforcement Torch Run is happy to announce Cavendish Agri Services has come on board as Title Sponsor, for the fifth year in a row, to support PEI’s Largest Truck Convoy event on the Island, in support of Special Olympics PEI.  This unique one-day fundraising event is a celebration of the trucking industry and their support of Special Olympics. Cavendish Agri Services, who specialize in providing comprehensive growing services to the agricultural sector in Atlantic Canada and North-eastern US, are looking forward to supporting this year’s event.

“Cavendish Agri Services is proud to be the title sponsor of the Truck Convoy for Special Olympics in PEI for the fifth consecutive year,” said Blaine MacPherson, General Manager, Cavendish Agri Services “We encourage other transportation companies to join us for this special event as we raise awareness, and funds, for Special Olympics PEI.”

The convoy will start at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 29th from Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) at 165 John Yeo Drive. The top fundraising truck will receive the honour of lead truck and will lead the convoy on a loop through the PEI National Park (Brackley to Dalvay by the Sea) and back via Hwy 2 to DFO for a celebration BBQ lunch presented to participants by the Parkdale Sherwood Lions Club.

Thomas Annear of Morley Annear Trucking has helped coordinate the event for the past five years. "The trucking community loves getting together to show our support in our own way, and this is a great cause and a great way to show we care about our communities and the people in them."

The last event (2019) drew a convoy of 34 trucks including drivers from off-Island. The PEI Law Enforcement Torch Run committee member, Roger Steadman, is happy to see support coming from various partners. “The LETR committee is pleased to have such strong community support behind the Truck Convoy event this year. Thank you to the Island trucking sector as well as Cavendish Agri Services for their title sponsorship commitment.  This year, more than ever, we encourage people to line up along the route with thank-you signs and much enthusiasm to show the trucking sector, first responders how much they are appreciated.” Details can be found on the Law Enforcement Torch Run's website.
