Meet Board Member - Craig Watson

Special Olympics PEI, Craig Watson, Board of Directors

Special Olympics PEI is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. This group of dedicated Islanders dedicate their time and talents to enriching the lives of Islanders with an intellectual disability through their volunteer service on our Board.

This week it is our pleasure to introduce our Vice President, Craig Watson.

Meet Craig Watson

Craig Watson joined Special Olympics PEI's Board of Directors in 2014, serving first as a Director at Large from 2014-2018 before stepping into the role of Vice President in Fall 2018. In addition to his role on the Board, Craig is a Coach for Special Olympics PEI's Golf program in Summerside. Furthermore, Craig has attended the last 2 Special Olympics National Games (Winter Games in Thunder Bay in 2020 and Summer Games in Antigonish in 2018). Craig is a Research Analyst with the Government of PEI, Department of Education and Lifelong Learning.

Prior to joining Special Olympics PEI's Board, Craig had a familiarity with the organization. On his decision to join the Board, Craig said, "I had done a lot of work with Charity (Sheehan) and Special Olympics Canada when I was working at the PGA of Canada in Toronto. When I moved back to PEI in 2013, I wanted to continue in some capacity with SOPEI, and the I thought the Board was a great fit."

When asked about his favourite Special Olympics moment, Craig said, "Being part of Team PEI Mission Staff at the SOC 2020 National Winter Games in Thunder Bay, as well as being selected as Team Canada Mission Staff for the 2022 World Winter Games."
