Special Olympics BC – Abbotsford athlete Paige Norton is a dynamo on and off the ice. The speed skater has shown exceptional dedication to her training, and is shaping up to be faster than ever at the 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games.

Norton earned her spot on the Special Olympics Team BC 2020 Training Squad after winning gold medals in all four of her races at the 2019 SOBC Winter Games in Greater Vernon. This will be Norton’s fifth National Games, after three previous appearances for speed skating and one for athletics. The longtime athlete aims to skate really well in Thunder Bay, and also enjoy seeing old friends and making new ones.

Norton won the Special Olympics BC Athletic Achievement Award in both 2011 and 2017. She loves to race and has medalled at the World Games level. Despite all her accomplishments, each new Games brings new enthusiasm and dedication to her training.

To Norton, being part of the Team BC 2020 Training Squad is “cool and awesome; I feel really lucky to make this team with so many friends.”

In addition to speed skating, Norton participates in athletics, basketball, Club Fit, golf, soccer, softball, and swimming. Learn more about Norton and Special Olympics Team BC 2020 at www.soteambc2020.ca
