B.C.’s New Car Dealers have been making a difference for Special Olympics BC’s life-changing programs for more than 35 years.

The New Car Dealers Foundation of BC and Dealers throughout the province have generously supported SOBC since the earliest years of our organization. Today, they raise vital funds and awareness through important province-wide initiatives such as the highly successful Auction for Athletes.

The Auction for Athletes began in 1987 as the Casino Auction in support of SOBC, chaired by Sherrold Haddad. Thanks to the hard work of the volunteer organizing committee and New Car Dealers staff, the auction has grown into a multi-day event that includes hundreds of items and raises significant funds for the empowering work of the New Car Dealers Foundation and SOBC.

The 2023 event was a big success, raising over $230,000. The online auction was steered to success by New Car Dealers and supporters, who donated 290 auction prizes, made cash pledges, solicited donations, and bid on items. Since it began 35 years ago, the auction has raised more than $5.8 million.

“I am so inspired by our industry and the lasting impact they make wherever they come together,” said Blair Qualey, President and CEO, New Car Dealers Foundation of BC. “This support will make such a huge difference for Special Olympics athletes. I extend my sincere thanks to all the amazing sponsors and everyone who placed bids that provide important support for Special Olympics BC’s year-round sports programs as well as important car careers grants and scholarships.”

The New Car Dealers Foundation of BC has also provided SOBC with valuable opportunities to raise funds and awareness at industry events such as the Vancouver International Auto Show

Heartfelt thanks to the New Car Dealers Foundation of BC and Dealers throughout the province for making a difference with their support of Special Olympics! They have played an instrumental role in the growth of SOBC, changing the lives of thousands of athletes and in turn, the lives of everyone they touch.
