Meet Donor Peter Saunderson

Peter with two other SOBC athletes, all in swimsuits at beach in Vancouver

Peter Saunderson has been involved with Special Olympics BC for over 20 years, dedicating his time and efforts both as a valued volunteer and donor over the years. Saunderson has been a monthly donor since 2015, and we are so thankful for his life-changing support of Special Olympics!

How did you hear about Special Olympics BC?
I first volunteered for SOBC in 2000 when I saw a recruitment posting in the newspaper. At the time, I had the time and energy available to become a volunteer. I was involved for about 10 years with the swimming and track and field programs in Vancouver. I am impressed with the supportive role that Special Olympics plays in the lives of the athletes.

Why do you feel it is important for you to donate?
When I retired and started to spend more time with grandchildren and traveling abroad, I decided to continue supporting SOBC through charitable donations, as I believed in the community good that Special Olympics provides through all the volunteers and programs.

Special Olympics BC is deeply grateful to Peter and all the donors who generously give to create opportunities and inclusion for athletes with intellectual disabilities across the province!

There are many ways to give with Special Olympics BC. Your generous support will enrich the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities and empower life-changing year-round programs in 55 communities throughout the province.
