Special Olympics BC Anniversary Ceremony

Celebrating four decades of the life-changing Special Olympics movement and community in B.C.!

Anniversary Ceremony

A live-streamed ceremony hosted on November 24 by legendary broadcaster Bernie Pascall, who covered the first-ever Special Olympics event in 1968 and has been a great friend to our movement and athletes ever since. Featuring reflections, tributes to the incredible people who make Special Olympics possible, and fabulous athlete dance performances!

A Look Back

As part of the celebrations, SOBC – Campbell River athlete Ashley Adie and Local Coordinator Maureen Hunter talked about the impact of Special Olympics in our province and on their lives. Maureen and her husband Harvey are members of the SOBC Hall of Fame for their decades of life-changing volunteer leadership, mentorship, coaching and more with our movement. Ashley is an accomplished athlete who trains with Maureen and has medalled in Special Olympics Canada Games for snowshoeing and athletics. Watch their inspiring chat!
