Sharing the joy of sport

Training and competition in sport while having fun, developing skills and building self-esteem, is the life of a Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador athlete. With 15 core sports, Special Olympics NL has something for every person with an intellectual disability. Please note, the selection of sports in a community is dependent on volunteer and resource availability.

The opportunities to excel and have fun come with benefits of improved health and self-image. For many athletes, participating in SONL is a path to healthy living, empowerment, acceptance and friendship.

Special Olympics NL has a number of different clubs throughout our province that provide a variety of sports training and competition opportunities to athletes in their area.
