When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I joined Special Olympics in 2004. Some friends encouraged me to come out and try the athletics program.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

I have competed in two other National Games, the 2012 Games in Alberta and the 2016 Games in Newfoundland. I did snowshoeing in both.

What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

In Vernon, I got four silver medals. I competed in the 1600m, 800m, 400m, and the 4 x 100m relay. I feel good about that performance!

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?

I feel happy and very proud to be part of Team BC 2020, and I am excited about going to Thunder Bay.

What is your goal for these National Games?

My goal is to improve my times in all my events and also medal.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

It means that I must practice and be determined to do my best.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

I like being outside in the snow and running like the wind. I also like all the people involved in snowshoeing.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

My favourite Special Olympics experience to date is being part of Team BC and winning medals!

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

It's a good way to have fun meeting new people and being active.

What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?

I also participate in athletics, aquatics, basketball, bowling, curling, Club Fit, softball, and soccer.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I volunteer once a week and work part time at McDonald's. I enjoy being with my friends and family.

What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)

Fun-loving!
