When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

2001, we moved from Nanaimo to Kelowna where we joined the cross country ski program.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

Cross country skiing in 2004, 2008, and 2012, and soccer in 2018.

What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

I feel I did pretty good, I took a couple of years off from cross country because I started a new job and couldn't get time off work to train.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?

I am so happy to be part of the team.

What is your goal for these National Games?

To do my best. I know I am up against younger athletes but I am a hard worker.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

It is very important to me. I get to see many old friends and make new ones.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

I like how physical it is, I work and train hard so this is a good sport for me.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

I have had lots and they are all favourites but I was lucky to get to go to China for the World Games and that was really amazing.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

Go for it. The friendships will last a lifetime and so will being fit.

What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?

My main summer sport is soccer. I used to do track and loved it. I also swim, 10-pin and also floor hockey.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I work full time in the Delta Grand Hotel and I live independently in my own suite.

What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)

Committed.
