When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I have been involved in Special Olympics for 33 years! I moved to Dawson Creek and started in their program.

Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

I competed in alpine skiing at the 1997 Winter Games in Quebec. I won two golds, one silver and one bronze.

What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?

Team gold.

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?

I am proud and honoured to represent Dawson Creek and Team BC.

What is your goal for these National Games?

I want to prepare myself physically and mentally to be at my best when the Games begin in February 2020.

What does competing at National Games mean to you?

I'm proud to have the opportunity to bowl and be acknowledged by my peers as one of the top bowlers.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

I like the personal challenge of always trying to beat my average. I also like travelling and meeting new people.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

Seeing the emotions of my family while I was standing on the podium in Quebec accepting a gold medal. They were so proud of me.

What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?

It's an awesome opportunity to meet new people, get into shape, and maybe one day travel to a lot of new places.

What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?

Club Fit, powerlifting, curling, snowshoeing, 10-pin bowling, alpine skiing, and bocce.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I work for Community Living BC as a project planner to assist people with intellectual and physical disabilities. I also help them be included in all workplaces!

What is one word you would use to describe yourself? :)

Determined.
