Chatting with Champions

Special Olympics Athletes are invited to come hang out with fellow Champions!  Our list of guests will spend time virtually talking to Special Olympics Athletes about how they are staying connected and positive during the COVID-19 Pandemic while at home, and sharing some positive words of encouragement with our athletes, all with a possible touch of humor!

Special Olympics Athletes will also be given an opportunity to ask our Champions questions!

Rick Mercer is a Canadian comedian, television personality, political satirist and author.  He is best known for his work on the CBC Television comedy shows This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Made in Canada and Rick Mercer Report.  He is the author of four books all of which have been national best sellers.  Mercer has received nearly 30 gemini awards and canadian screen awards for his work on television.  his cbc televsion special talking to americans remains the highest rated canadian comedy special ever with 2.7 million viewers.
 
He is native of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Originally from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, Trent McClellan is a stand-up comedian, writer, podcaster and actor known for his approachable, candid and effortless observational comedy. 
 
Trent has been performing stand-up across Canada for over 14 years.  Some of his most notable appearances include sets at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, St. John's Exit Realty Comedy Fest, the Moncton HubCap Comedy Fest, and countless others. 
 
In 2016, he was a guest writer and performer on  cbc's This Hour Has 22 Minutes and officially joined the show for its 25th season in 2017/2018.
