Do you know someone who dreams of making it to the World Games one day? It all starts with signing up for Special Olympics in your community! Athletes can start with Special Olympics at age two, creating a pathway to lifelong sport that can lead from Provincials to Nationals and all the way to the world stage.

Special Olympics Team Canada powerlifter, David Nicholson, had one of the heaviest opening lifts seen at a Special Olympics World Games in Berlin this year – 175 kilograms. Head Coach Jeff Butt said that when submitting lift attempts pre-competition, the weight even had organizers doing a double take. "They read our submission and said, do you mean kilograms or pounds? Are you sure?"
