“I feel empowered, honoured just to be picked for the first time ever Special Olympics Team Canada women’s basketball team,” Special Olympics BC – Kamloops athlete Tyra Flukinger says. “It is probably one of the most enjoyable moments I’ve had in my life, but it’s hard being away from my three children. Really, really hard. But I keep going for them.”
