Special Olympics Canada has identified specific outcomes that require additional knowledge, skills, and abilities that are relevant to coaching the Special Olympics athletes in a competitive stream. The intent is to prepare the coach to meet the specific needs of the Special Olympics athlete. The coaches will be required to demonstrate their abilities in the training (SOC Competition Introduction Workshop).
This is a required course for all Special Olympics Coaches. Any coach or mission staff looking to be on any 2023 SOS Provincial Sport Competition or applying to be on 2024 Team Saskatchewan will be required to have completed this course.
Saturday will consist of an 8 hour session, running from 9:00am-5:00pm. The Sunday session will be an additional 4 hours, running from 9:00am-1:00pm. You must attend both sessions to complete the training. There will be a 30 minute time period allotted for lunch on Saturday.
