Swimming

If you were to look back four years, you wouldn't believe that it was Tia afraid of the water and wearing a life jacket at her Special Olympics Humboldt swim program. Four years later, Tia is an incredibly confident swimmer and a natural in the water. She has learned all four swim strokes and has won medals at the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Originally chosen as an alternate for the national games she trained hard along with the team to improve her strokes and ended up attending the games as a member of Team Sask. After an outstanding performance at National Games, Tia has been selected to Team Canada and will be attending the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi. Special Olympics has helped Tia in many aspects of her life. Tia who is in high school has started her first job as a librarian. Tia attributes many of her successes to Special Olympics. Congratulations Tia!
