Team Saskatchewan - 5 Pin Bowling

Bowling Team
Lindsay

Lindsay Ast

Lindsay Ast has been involved in Special Olympics for over fifteen years in a variety of sports including skating, basketball, athletics and 5 pin bowling.  Her National Games experiences include travelling to Vancouver to be part of the 2014 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games participating in basketball and before that, to Halifax to attend the 2011 Canada Winter Games where she participated in skating.  It was at these games that she was the only skater on the Saskatchewan skating team – Special Olympian or otherwise – to bring home a medal (silver).  However, to Lindsay, it’s the opportunity to attend the Games that’s important to her – “that’s a medal in itself” – for it’s not only a chance to represent your city and province and participate in a sport you enjoy, but it also provides you with an opportunity to experience new places and meet new people.  With that being said, Lindsay is looking forward to the Special Olympics Winter Games in Thunder Bay and the opportunity to be part of Saskatchewan’s 5 pin bowling team, meet new fellow Special Olympians and check out a city that is new to her.

Val

Joshua Bailey

I play this sport with pride and love of the game. I am encouraged to do my best and have fun. I always strive to perform to the best of my ability. I have a lot of support from my family and friends.

Besides bowling , I enjoy playing golf, Bocce ball, Disc golf and Wi Sports.

I received a golf medal in 5-pin bowling at the Winter Games held in Regina this past February, for overall individual men’s bowling and a bronze medal for men’s team bowling. My hard work and practise for this event was worth it. I have also received bowling medals at other competitions . I received a bronze medal in my division in Bocce ball at the Summer games in Moose Jaw - 2018. A favourite memory is receiving the gold medal at the Winter games for men’s individual bowling in the “A” division. I am also proud of my 2 trophies from participating in Blind golf tournaments. I am a B3 golfer and won overall net awards at the Western tourney held in Warman in July-2017 and the Canadian Open held in Hamilton in August-2017. With the help of my mom, my coach, we made these wins happen. I enjoy watching Brooke Hamilton play golf and Chris Szarka was a favourite football player to watch until he retired. My hobbies include playing crib, doing puzzles, listening to music, fishing, playing PlayStation and watching family rated movies. Also visiting with family and friends is very important to me. I look forward to participating in the National Games in February - 2020, in Thunderbay, Ontario.
