7th Annual Curling Bonspiel

The 7th Annual Curling Bonspiel was back in action on March 5th and 6th at the Callie Curling Club in Regina. It was a weekend full of excitement and action, laughter, fun, and unforgettable memories and stories! This year, there were five teams: 3 teams were from Regina, 1 team was from Swift Current, and 1 team was from Melfort.

The weekend was all about the athletes getting back out onto the ice for the first time (in what has felt like) forever. To say it was a blast would be an understatement. With 21 athletes in attendance, they were able to curl, socialize, and get back to competition that they have so dearly missed during the pandemic. It was great to see the athletes alongside their coaches, with fans cheering them on from the side lines.

The winner of the 1st place game was decided in the last end with Team Melfort, skipped by Daniel Fiedelleck. The game was close all the way until the end. Team Barth, from Regina, took home a close second place. Team Nagy, from Regina, took home third place, edging out Team Goebel from Swift Current in the bonze medal game.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered or offered a helping hand when needed throughout the weekend - you didn't go unnoticed! A major "Thank You" goes out to Danita from Curl Regina for securing sheets of ice in a short time period, and to the Callie Curling Club for being great hosts. Finally, "Thank You" to all who came out to support the athletes - they enjoyed every second of the weekend!

We cannot wait for next year!
