Special Olympics BC – Chilliwack's Corey Bennett is a multi-sport athlete who enjoys the camaraderie and empowerment of Special Olympics. Involved since 1996, Bennett has participated in gymnastics, floor hockey, golf, basketball, and bowling.

Bennett is currently a member of the Special Olympics Team BC 2024 Training Squad, where he is working hard to compete at the 2024 Special Olympics Canada National Winter Games for 5-pin bowling!

After winning gold with his Chilliwack bowling team at the 2023 SOBC Provincial Winter Games presented by Prospera Credit Union, Bennett is confident in his abilities to achieve great feats at National Games.

“I have been bowling since I was a teenager and I feel that I am getting better every year,” he says. “Going to National Games is proof that I am getting better.”

Outside of Special Olympics, Bennett is an active member of the Chilliwack community. He has worked at Denbow for the past 13 years, and he is also an employee at Freshco.

SOBC athletes become successful employees in their communities across the province! According to Special Olympics Canada’s research, individuals who are involved in Special Olympics have a 16 per cent higher employment rate than the average individual with an intellectual disability who is not involved.
