Our Podium embodies the true spirit of sport

At Special Olympics, you are part of
a winning movement.

What if sport was about more than winning?

What if being a winner meant something completely different?

At Special Olympics, our athletes, volunteers and coaches live the true meaning of sport every day - redefining what it means to win. Winning is about more than just medals or podium finishes - it's about pride, self-confidence and friendship.

Our Podium embodies the true spirit of sport. Because for us, sport is about more than rewarding a single individual. It’s about creating an inclusive community in which we elevate each other.

Did you know?

Special Olympics is independent of the Olympics and Paralympics. This is often confusing as we all share in a belief of the transformative power of sport, but each international organization serves a specific athlete population.

For more than 50 years, Special Olympics Canada has enriched the lives of Canadians with an intellectual disability – of all ages and skill levels – through the transformative power of sport.

Every day more than 17,500 volunteers, coaches and officials across the country provide high-quality programming to Special Olympics athletes from age two to 70-plus at both the recreational/community and competitive levels. Programs include sport training and competition, health, nutrition and leadership skills training.

Our vision is that sport will open hearts and minds toward people with intellectual disabilities and create inclusive communities all across Canada.

Without you on our team, individuals with an intellectual disability are left on the sidelines.
