Special Olympics PEI, Team PEI 2024, Curling Team

Team PEI 2024's Curling Team will be represented by 5 athletes at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 - Colton Matheson (Montague), Matthew Gallant (Montague), Monique Gauthier (Charlottetown), Shane MacPhee (Charlottetown) and Shelby McInnis (Souris). They are supported by coaches Gie Rogers, Jamie Matheson and Scott McInnis. Team PEI's Curling athletes are training hard as they get ready to represent PEI on the National stage!

Team PEI Curling has a good mix of experience. The team is lead by Skip, Shelby, an avid curler who has been curling out of the Souris rink in the community league for the last 10 years. The Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 will be Shelby's second National Games in the sport of Curling. Shane and Monique have been curling together, formerly out of the Charlottetown Curling Club, for over 10 years. They have respectively attended 2 and 3 previous National Games in the sport of Curling. Colton, while not new to Special Olympics, is attending his first National Games. Matthew is the newest athlete to Special Olympics, having joined 3 years ago.

In February / March of 2024, Special Olympics PEI will be represented by 33 athletes, supported by 21 coaches and mission staff, at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 in Calgary, Alberta. Team PEI will compete in 7 sports: 5-Pin Bowling, Cross Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Floor Hockey, Snowshoeing, and Speed Skating.  Be sure to follow along between now and February as we continue to Meet Team PEI 2024!
