FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Due to concerns regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and with the strong recommendation from Special Olympics Canada, the Special Olympics Yukon (SOY) Board of Directors has made the decision to suspend all SOY activity until April 5th, with re-evaluation of the situation at that time.
This includes:
- All community based weekly sport programs
- All school-based programing
- All planned nutritional sessions
This suspension of activity also includes the postponement of the 2020 Special Olympics Festival Dinner Auction. SOY will host this event at a later date. Those of you that have already purchased tickets for the original date of April 4th:
- You will be provided with tickets for the new event date; or
- You will be provided a full refund
SOY is committed to the health and safety of all members of the Special Olympics Yukon family. While there are currently no cases of COVID-19 in the territory and the risk remains low at this time, we feel the above outlined actions are in the best interest of the community at large.
