How do I know if the fundraiser is really from Special Olympics Canada?
Special Olympics Canada’s Fundraisers can be easily identified by their identification badges (which they should present upon request).
They will also be wearing SOC branded items such as vests/hats.
Our fundraisers carry tablets to efficiently collect your contact information only and will never accept cheques or cash at the door.
What type of donations do you accept at the door?
Special Olympics Canada is grateful for every gift we receive. For safety reasons, we’re unable to accept cash at the door.
Our door‑to‑door fundraisers focus on monthly giving, as monthly donations provide dependable, ongoing support that allows our programs to reach more athletes throughout the year.
Our canvassers do not ask for one-time donations at the door, however you’re always welcome to make a one‑time gift online through our website at your convenience.
When will I receive my tax receipt for my monthly gifts?
We issue a consolidated tax receipt for all monthly donations made in the calendar year. The tax receipt will be sent via email or mail (depending on the donor’s preferences) by the end of February.
Is my information secure?
You or our fundraiser will enter and submit your information into the secure tablet, where your information will be encrypted.
Special Olympics Canada works closely with our partners to ensure your information remains secure and confidential.
Are my monthly donations refundable?
Donations are considered final and non-refundable. As a registered charity, we follow Canada Revenue Agency guidelines
Under Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidance, charitable donations are considered voluntary transfers and are generally non‑refundable, particularly once a tax receipt has been issued for a completed taxation year. For reference, the CRA outlines this in its publication Gifts and Income Tax (Guide P113).

Otherwise, you'll be able to update your payment information using your donor portal.
