21-year-old Genny from Sechelt on BC’s Sunshine Coast has been an athlete for 11 years. She says her biggest challenge was fitting in with a disability and being accepted. Genny credits Special Olympics with giving her a community, opportunities for training and travel, and for meeting new friends and coaches. Most of all, she says Special Olympics has given her confidence and memories of a lifetime. Genny’s Mother is a Head Coach for Swimming and her Brother volunteers with Floor Hockey and Swimming. Genny has 19 medals, including seven Golds. She encourages other athletes to have confidence and reach for their dreams. In her spare time, Genny enjoys baking, walking her dog, spending time with friends and being sassy.
