Wow! The Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 was an unbelievable experience!

All 138 members of Special Olympics Team Canada proudly walked into Olympic Stadium to a massive cheering crowd. Special Olympics Team Canada athletes from across the country have been dreaming of this moment – and it was totally worth the hype.

Patricia Colgan

Quebec’s Patricia Colgan kicked off competition for Special Olympics Team Canada on Saturday. The rhythmic gymnast gave her all on the floor, while her Canadian teammates cheered her on. 

“I have been holding back tears the entire day because I am so proud of Pat. She did everything she could do out there. All her skills were on display. She did her balances, her jumps — everything was to the best of her ability,” says Head Coach Jennifer Fyfe.
