HEAD COACH - BOWLING

PROVINCE: Quebec

How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

12 years

How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?

It keeps me very busy and fulfilled coaching 4 sports – athletics, tenpin bowling, snowshoeing and soccer .

What do you like most about the sport you will be competing in at Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin 2023?

I like that bowling fosters new friendships among teammates. You care about each other and care for your own personal improvement as well as your teammates, as you all share a common goal. Tenpin bowling can be difficult both technically and mentally, and it is exciting to face those challenges together as a team.

What is your proudest moment with Special Olympics?

One of my proudest moments was meeting my tenpin bowlers for the first time. In 12 years, I had never encountered athletes from this sport. As soon as I met them and listened to their desire to learn and succeed, it immediately confirmed my choice to join their team as coach. Their smiles are contagious and share so much with all who are lucky enough to receive them.

What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?

It represents a great challenge and I am so happy to be part of this beautiful big family – because it really is like a family for me.

What is your goal for Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023?

My goal for this team is that each person realizes himself as an individual, regardless of the results. Sharing a positive experience creating unforgettable memories with your team is what being a part of this big, beautiful Team Canada family is all about.
