How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been involved with Special Olympics for 18 years.

How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?

My involvement with Special Olympics has been that of a coach, regional coordinator, committee volunteer, and most importantly a parent. To see how my daughter has grown as a sport competitor and as an athlete leader has been heartwarming. Special Olympics has meant so much to our family, as Natalie always competed and excelled in generic sports, but never had a circle of friends. Not anymore – and that happened instantly once she got involved with Special Olympics! She always says that in Special Olympics she can be herself and no one is there to judge her.

What do you like most about the sport you will be competing in at Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin 2023?

Basketball has been a lifelong journey for me and to be able to share this moment with athletes and coaches from across our country is so exciting.

What is your proudest moment with Special Olympics?

Being selected to Special Olympics Team Canada 2023!

What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?

To share this moment with such a wonderful group of athletes, mission staff, and coaches is truly exciting, heartwarming, and an honour!

What is your goal for Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023?

To provide Special Olympics athletes from across Canada the exciting opportunity to represent their country and compete in their sport at their highest level.
