Special Olympics PEI Receives $18,685 Donation from the PEI Automobile Dealers Association
Special Olympics PEI has received a $18,685 donation from the PEI Automobile Dealers Association (PEIADA). This year is the 39th year that Special Olympics PEI has been the charity of choice for PEIADA. This year’s donation brings the cumulative total donated to Special Olympics PEI over the past 38 years to over $341,762.
The history of the partnership between the PEI Automobile Dealers Association and Special Olympics PEI reaches back to 1987. Following the lead of its national body, the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA), the PEIADA began supporting Special Olympics PEI 39 years ago. Now, 39 years later, PEIADA still exclusively supports Special Olympics PEI as its charity of choice.
Each year PEIADA holds the April Car Campaign, when Dealer Members remit to PEIADA office, a sum of money for every new vehicle sold / leased during the month of April. This money goes towards a collective donation to Special Olympics PEI. This donation is coupled with the proceeds garnered from a live auction of several items at PEIADA’s Annual Golf Tournament and Lobster / Beef Dinner.
We value our relationship with Special Olympics Prince Edward Island and we are thrilled to once again be able to make a significant financial contribution to the organization to help with enriching the lives of Islanders with intellectual disabilities.
The partnership between Special Olympics PEI and the PEI Automobile Dealers Association continues to extend beyond financial support. For the last several years Special Olympics PEI has been invited to enter a team into PEIADA’s Annual Golf Tournament. This year Team PEI 2026 Golf athletes Colton Matheson and Matthew Jehn, supported by Team PEI 2026 Golf Head Coach, Jamie Matheson and Special Olympics PEI’s Program Director, Matthew McNally, participated in the tournament. The inclusion of athletes like Colton and Matthew in the tournament showcases the abilities of local Special Olympics athletes and directly connects everyone at PEIADA with the athletes who benefit from this campaign.
Special Olympics PEI is tremendously grateful for our partnership with the PEI Automobile Dealers Association. Beyond their incredible financial support over the last 39 years, PEIADA are champions of inclusion, and true friends to our movement. Funds raised from this campaign will directly support our grass roots community programs, including our several Island golf programs.
