Special Olympics PEI Receives Grant from City of Summerside
Special Olympics PEI is pleased to acknowledge the City of Summerside for their support of Islanders with an intellectual disability. A long-time supporter, the City of Summerside has awarded Special Olympics PEI a Community Support Grant in the amount of $5,000.
Special Olympics PEI offers many activities in Summerside to support inclusion, physical activity, and community connections. The last year has been one of remarkable growth for our programming in Summerside with 114 athletes enrolled and 34 volunteers, coaches, and operational team members contributing to our success.
Together with the City of Summerside, we have built programs that go far beyond sports, from weekly training and athlete leadership development to inclusive health initiatives, volunteer engagement, and community events. These programs embody our shared values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Beyond this financial support, the City of Summerside, along with His Worship Mayor Dan Kutcher and members of City Council, has been an integral part of the Special Olympics movement here on PEI. With this grant, Special Olympics PEI will be able to continue to provide quality sports training and competitive opportunities to Summerside residents with an intellectual disability.
