Special Olympics PEI Receives $25,000 Donation from PEI Mutual Insurance Company

    PEI Mutual Insurance Company has made a $25,000 donation to Special Olympics. As Special Olympics PEI’s Founding partner, now in their 34th year of championing the organization, PEI Mutual has now contributed a cumulative total of over $450,000.    

    Summerside athlete, Ty MacLeod, along with Special Olympics PEI's Executive Director, Charity Sheehan, stopped by PEI Mutual earlier this week to accept the donation, and to say thank you for the continued generosity.  

    PEI Mutual has been a true friend of both the Special Olympics movement, and of our athletes. We saw this today with how welcoming they were of Ty. It’s always been important for PEI Mutual to get to know our athletes, and we know they are always cheering them on! Over the length of our partnership, the Directors, Agents, and Staff of PEI Mutual have always gone above and beyond to show their support. We are truly honoured to have their continued support and trust

    With PEI Mutual cheering him on, Ty has the opportunity this August to represent PEI at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat Alberta. Ty is attending this first SOC Games, and will be competing in basketball.  This Summer will be the next step in a life-long journey with Special Olympics for Ty who started off in the Active Start program when he was 5 years old.  

    Participating in Special Olympics has taught me that win or lose, it is important to be a great teammate. I am looking forward to the whole experience with Team PEI.
