Special Olympics PEI Receives Donations from 11th Annual Antique Farm Show
The 11th Annual Antique Farm Show was a tremendous success, and Special Olympics PEI is truly honoured to have been this year's Charity of Choice!
11 years ago Peter Roberts and his family hosted a community event to support a local Habitat for Humanity build. The build itself had taken place in the Spring, which being busy season for farmers like the Roberts, meant that they couldn't volunteer. Still wanting to give back, the family hosted the 1st Annual Antique Farm Show. That tradition of generosity continues, and this year's Show was the most successful one yet!
The Annual Antique Farm Show is truly a unique event. Each year the Roberts family hosts the community for this event. The day sees antique farm equipment and cards, music, entertainment and a silent auction. The 3 hour event is by donation, and this year's event raised $31,982 in support of Special Olympics PEI!
Special Olympics PEI athlete, Jack Hansen, was on hand to accept the donation. Jack has a long history of connection to the Roberts family, starting back when Peter Roberts would take him out on the tractor to see the fields. Jack was able to share some of his recent achievements through Special Olympics with the Roberts family, including the opportunity to compete as a member of Team PEI 2026 Soccer at the Special Olympics Canada Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
We are immensely grateful to Peter Roberts and the entire Roberts family for including Special Olympics PEI in this year's Antique Farm Show! This donation will play in important role in allowing us to continuing providing opportunities for athletes like Jack. Special Olympics has always been about inclusion, and it's clear that this value is one we share with the Roberts family.
