Year of the Volunteer - Shed Raffle Ticket Seller, Judy Gallant

2026 is the International Year of Volunteers. All year long we will be highlighting and celebrating our amazing volunteers.

Again this Summer Special Olympics PEI has partnered with the Evangeline ATV Club to sell raffle tickets for the chance to win either a 12x20ft fully wired building or $10,000! Fundraisers like this rely on the support of our members, volunteers like Judy Gallant who are always quick to say 'YES'. From being a volunteer softball coach, to an athlete mentor and fundraising volunteering, Judy is key volunteer with Special Olympics PEI. 

We asked Judy a few questions about her experience volunteering with Special Olympics PEI.

Question: What is your favourite part about being a Shed Raffle ticket seller?

Answer: One of my favorite parts of being a Shed Raffle ticket seller is seeing the excitement on the athletes' faces as they connect with supporters in our community. It gives them the opportunity to build their confidence and communication skills while sharing how the Shed Raffle helps fund the many programs they enjoy and benefit from.

Q: What is your favourite part about being a volunteer with Special Olympics PEI?

A: Where to start? Throughout the 20+ years of volunteering with Special Olympics PEI, the interaction with the athletes in sport, mentorship programs, advocacy and fundraising have been my favourite parts!

Q: Why should others consider volunteering to sell Shed Raffle tickets?

A: Fundraising is an integral part of any organization and it's a chance to connect with supporters, spread the word about this cause, build relationships, and create a memorable experience.
