Meet Team PEI 2026 Bocce Athlete, Rolanda Bridges
Team PEI 2026 Bocce athlete, Rolanda Bridges has been a Special Olympics athlete for over 20 years. Rolanda is one of 4 PEI athletes who will be competing at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta this August.
Rolanda first joined Special Olympics back in 2025 by some colleagues at her work who thought it might be a good fit. Rolanda works at Tremploy, a non-profit organization that supports adults with intellectual disabilities by facilitating meaningful opportunities for work.
Rolanda says, participating in Special Olympics has taught me "the value of making friends and being their for them when they need me the most."
The Special Olympics Canada Summer Games 2026 won't be Rolanda's first time competing as a member of Team PEI. Rolanda has competed in 5-Pin Bowling at 3 previous Special Olympics Canada Games. She recalls her favourite Special Olympics moment as winning her first medal at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games 2010 in London, Ontario.
Looking ahead to the Summer, Rolanda is most looking forward to the entire experience.
