2026 is the International Year of Volunteers. All year long we will be highlighting and celebrating our amazing volunteers.

All year long we are grateful for the amazing dedication of our volunteer coaches, and National Coaches Week is always a nice opportunity to celebrate coaches, like Team PEI 2026 Basketball coach, Mylène Arsenault. This past summer Mylène was part of the coaching staff who supported Special Olympics PEI's first Basketball team at a Special Olympics Canada Games.

We asked Mylène a few questions about her experience volunteering with Special Olympics PEI.

Question: What was your favourite part about being a member of Team PEI 2026?

Answer: My favourite part was having the opportunity to attend the Special Olympics Canada Games 2026 in Medicine Hat and witness all the growth and hard work the athletes put in leading up to the Games. Seeing the smiles on their faces and how much they enjoyed the experience made it so special to be a part of.

Q: What is your favourite overall part about being a volunteer with Special Olympics PEI?

A: My favourite part is seeing the athletes grow in confidence, build friendships, and have fun through sport.

Q: Why should others consider volunteering with Special Olympics PEI?

A: Volunteering with Special Olympics PEI is a great way to make a positive difference while becoming part of an amazing community. You give your time, but you get so much back through the amazing experiences, relationships, and memories you get to be a part of.

    Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Without them, we could not deliver on our promise to enrich the lives of children, youth, and adults involved in our programs. Consider volunteering with an organization that changes attitudes and builds stronger communities across Prince Edward Island. You will make meaningful and lasting changes in many lives, including your own.
