The sport of 10-pin bowling has been played for numerous years. In Canada, the United States, United Kingdom and Australia, the game of 10 Pin is commonly referred to as just "Bowling". Other places may refer to it as "ten-pin bowling" or "big-ball bowling".
In 10-pin bowling, the “bowler" throws (rolls) a bowling ball down a lane that is either made of wood or synthetic (polyurethane) towards ten bowling pins that positioned at the end of the lane. The bowler’s objective is to knock down as many pins as possible to score points. The pins are arranged in a triangular position by an automated machine and numbered per the position that they sit .A traditional bowling ball has three finger holes with weights of the ball varying to make the sport playable for all ages.
Bowling is considered to be among the most popular sports in Special Olympics, with over 270 10-pin bowlers in Alberta!
