How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 10 years.

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I first got involved with Special Olympics because my support staff suggested it to me. It has helped me gain confidence, become more social, and I have made lasting friendships along the way.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

I feel like I show more initiative and enthusiasm in group/team settings now.

What other sports do you participate in?

I am currently only participating in Softball, but have participated in Floor Hockey, Basketball, Bocce, 5-Pin Bowling and Synergy Performance Program in the past.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

Special Olympics has taught me to be patient with myself and others. It has taught me that winning is not everything but that the more you practice the better you get at a sport.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I am most looking forward to playing the sport that I love, in a province that I have never been to. It will also be my very first airplane ride , so I am very excited to experience that .

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

My favorite moment so far was when we came third in all of Canada at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games 2018 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

It means making new friends and having fun.
