How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been involved with Special Olympics for 6 years.

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I first got involved with Special Olympics because I believed that I could help the athletes learn the game of golf, teach them the skills to help them play the game, help them have fun playing golf and help build their self confidence and esteem.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I am most looking forward to experiencing the Games. Enjoying the experience with the PEI Golf Team. Also, watching the different sports, meeting new people, making new friends and having fun.

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

My favourite Special Olympics moment was hearing the excitement and happiness of Matthew Jehn’s voice when I spoke to him on the phone after he learned that he made the Golf Team. And then when I saw Matthew at our next golf session. He was so excited to be able to attend the games in Medicine Hat. Another special moment was seeing the athletes enter during the opening ceremonies at the 2025 Provincial Games in Nova Scotia. Such excitement and joy on their faces.

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

I’m so excited and thankful to be given the opportunity to be part of Team PEI 2026. I am so looking forward to working with the Coaches, athletes and staff of Team PEI and help in any way that I can so that our Team has a successful and fun games.
