How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 14 years.
Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?
My friend Amber Metcalfe got me involved! She texted me and told me to come out to a swim practice. I have been able to meet a lot of new people and get to know so many new people.
What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?
Learning the specific strokes for swimming was very challenging but my coach Debbie Metcalfe helped me reach these goals. I also learned from other swimmers on my team.
What other sports do you participate in?
I also participate in Community Sport and Floorball.
What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?
Participating in Special Olympics has taught me about staying healthy and being social.
What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?
I am most looking forward to meeting other athletes and having fun.
What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?
My favourite Special Olympics moment was making Team PEI 2014.
What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?
Very excited and will work hard on my goals while attending all training activities.
