How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I have been involved with Special Olympics for 5 years.
Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?
I first became involved with Special Olympics as two of my siblings began participating as athletes in various programs, and seeing their participation and achievements through Special Olympics sparked an interest to become a volunteer to be a part of that experience for many athletes.
What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?
I look forward to seeing the athletes have a competitive opportunity to showcase the skills they work hard on throughout the season. I look forward to helping athletes have a positive experience, create lasting memories and take away valuable lessons that come from playing team sport.
What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?
There are many moments that come to mind. As a coach and volunteer, a highlight so far is last year’s Provincial Summer Games where Team PEI Softball had an incredible showing.
What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?
I have dedicated time and effort to developing as a volunteer and coach with Special Olympics PEI. Being a part of Team PEI 2026 as a volunteer coach means a great deal to me. It’s not only an opportunity to be involved in an exciting event and coach a sport I’m passionate about, but also a chance to help ensure each athlete has a valuable experience and to witness their growth and development- which makes this role especially meaningful.
