How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been involved with Special Olympics for 7 years.

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

Initially my son was involved in Special Olympics so I got to know many athletes. I saw there was a need for Soccer and Speed Skating coaches. I felt privileged to help this group of athletes grow, stay fit and have fun in the sports. I feel like I have an extended family. I have never been so proud of another group.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I am most looking forward to seeing what the athletes can achieve, seeing a part of the Canada I have never visited before and meeting new people.

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

My favorite Special Olympics moment was getting to coach at the Calgary Olympic Oval and skating on both the short track and long track.

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

To me it is about the feelings I get watching the athletes compete and enjoying being in a new place.
