How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been involved with Special Olympics for 8 years.

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I got involved with Special Olympics because I was looking for a new way to volunteer and support a new group of athletes that played multiple sports. I’ve always cared about creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome, and Special Olympics PEI seemed like the perfect fit.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I’ve never had the chance to be part of a multi-sport National Games before, so I’m really excited for the whole experience. I’ve been involved in a lot of single-sport Nationals—especially soccer—but this will be something completely new.

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

One of my favorite moments was winning gold at the 2024 Special Olympics Nova Scotia Provincial Summer Games in Wolfville. Despite some tough weather and wet fields, our athletes gave it their all and came out on top. What made it even more special was how excited they were to support the other PEI athletes in basketball, swimming, and track—it was such a proud and positive team experience.

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

It means everything. Any time you get the chance to represent PEI at a National Games, it’s something truly special. There’s nothing quite like putting on that PEI green and black shirt, hat or anything else. I’ll be incredibly proud to coach our soccer athletes, but just as proud to support all the amazing athletes from across the province. Being part of Team PEI is such a great honour and something I will remember forever.
