How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 5 years.
Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?
I first got involved with Special Olympics because I wanted to get back to playing the sports I love and fit in with everyone around me. I grew up playing bowling and softball. I wanted to continue doing that in a safe environment. I had a friend in SO who invited me. SO has changed my life for the better. I am excited to go to each session, and I love being competitive. Special Olympics has added more fun in my life and I feel supported. I have more friends.
What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?
A challenge I have overcome is losing loved ones to a tragic accident and moving into a new place. I was able to connect, communicate, and had to overcome fears of fitting in.
What other sports do you participate in?
I also participate in 5-Pin Bowling.
What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?
Special Olympics has taught me to learn from my mistakes and keep going.
What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?
I have never been to Alberta, so I am excited to see it. I am excited to play a sport I love with other people.
What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?
My favourite Special Olympics movement was winning Gold at the 5-Pin Bowling Provincials and earning the highest overall female score.
What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?
It feels amazing to make my first Team PEI. It is a huge opportunity and I am honoured to represent Team PEI. I love it.
