How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 18 years.   

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I got involved in Special Olympics as I love sports, meeting new people and making friends. Special Olympics was a safe place to do that.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

I have learned to not be as shy as I used to be. I have been able to be more open and share success and challenges with my friends.

What other sports do you participate in?

I also participate in Athletics, Synergy Performance Program, Speed Skating and 5-Pin Bowling.    

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

Participating in Special Olympics has taught me about inclusion and kindness.  

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I am looking forward to travelling with my teammates, meeting other people, seeing a new place and getting new experiences and opportunities by playing a sport I love.

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

My favourite Special Olympics moment was winning a Gold and 3 Silver medals at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2020 in speed skating and getting selected to Special Olympics Team Canada!

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

It makes me proud and happy and thankful to be part of a team and play a sport I love and share it with my friends and family.
