How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 34 years (some in BC before moving to PEI).

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I was approached by CY Holland and Andy Judson who thought it would be a great fit! It turned out to be the best thing ever for me. 

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

I have overcome seizures and found always struggled with reading. I was told I would never be able to do anything and now I have had so many successes, many because of involvement in Special Olympics.

What other sports do you participate in?

I also participate in Floor Hockey.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

Participating in Special Olympics has taught me social skills, communicating, and growing friendships.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I am looking forward to giving my best effort and enjoying the experience with friends.

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

My favourite Special Olympics moment was competing with Special Olympics Team Canada Soccer at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in LA.

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

Very excited and honoured to represent PEI.
