How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?

I have been a Special Olympics athlete for 16 years.  

Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?

I got involved with Special Olympics because I wanted something to do to enjoy with my spare time. I have met new people and made new friends.

What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?

I’m more confident and I have more self-esteem thanks to Special Olympics.

What other sports do you participate in?

Over the years I have participated in Community Sport, Softball, Soccer, Bocce, Bowling , Basketball and a few others.

What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?

Participating in Special Olympics has taught me that you get what you give. If you give it your all, you’ll get so much more back.

What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?

I am looking forward to playing with my teammates, meeting new people and seeing the sites.

What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?

My favourite Special Olympics moments include when I won Gold at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2020 in Thunder Bay for the sport of Floor Hockey with my team; winning Silver at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games 2024 in Calgary in the sport of floor hockey with my team and also now playing basketball with a great group of people. I also have amazing coaches that encourage us and guide us.

What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?

I am so proud and honoured to be a part of Team PEI 2026 Basketball. I will always try my best in everything I do.
