How many years have you been involved with Special Olympics?
I have been a Special Olympics athlete for more than 6 years.
Why did you first get involved with Special Olympics and how has it changed your life?
I got involved because I wanted to try something different. I have met new people, made new friends and it has allowed me to work on my sportsmanship. Being involved with Special Olympics has allowed me to travel.
What is a challenge or barrier that you have overcome?
Because of the friends I've made, I have been able to learn how to use the bus system.
What other sports do you participate in?
I also participate in Golf, Bocce and Bowling.
What has participating in Special Olympics taught you?
Participating in Special Olympics has taught me to follow the rules. It has taught be about respect and to be respectful. It has taught me that it is ok to lose a game, as long as I have fun and it has taught me to support my teammates. Special Olympics has also taught me how to make friends
What are you most looking forward to at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games?
I am looking forward to travelling on an airplane and meeting new people from another province. I'm also looking forward to wearing a new uniform for basketball.
What is your favourite Special Olympics moment?
My favourite Special Olympics moment was my team's win over Halifax at the 2022 Provincial Summer Games in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. We won gold!
What does being a part of Team PEI 2026 mean to you?
I am happy to be part of the team. It makes me proud that my hard work has paid off.
